Hot Dogging

Next to apple pie and baseball nothing says United States of America than the legendary hot dog. Even though many of us wouldn’t touch one with a ten-foot pole if we knew what was really in those tubular steaks they continue to be a mainstay of our dinner tables, backyard BBQs and culture.

Now the Netherlands is a great country for the hot dogs, and this one really hit my eye today simply because I had a naughty lunch of two hot dogs today. Almost no nutritional content unless you counted the ‘tomato’ in the Ketchup. I will say though that they looked a whole lot more eatable than some of these monstrosities.

Euro Pirates of Silicon Fenn

Some of you will remember a film entitled the Pirates of Silicon Valley about the competition between Microsoft/Bill Gates and Apple/Steve Jobs in the late seventies and early eighties. Well it seems that BBC are going to make  a European version regarding the giants of the UK computer scene. I wonder if it will be quite as glamourous.

During the 1980’s there was a battle of the computer makers which influenced the decision making during that time.

Google street has a lot of suspicion in many countries, although this does add weight to the view that the only people who should be concerned are those who are doing things wrong….

In news which proves inconvenient for those of us who believe Google’s Street View is nothing more than one tentacle of the Great Satan of Mountain View’s humanity-supressing internet beast, Dutch press reports that snoopmobile images from the all-seeing web eye have been used to collar two muggers.

European buyers of Windows 7 will have to download and install a web browser for themselves.

Bowing to European competition rules, Microsoft Windows 7 will ship without Internet Explorer.

Looking for a job, you really want to read this

I have interviewed many people, and many of them had problems with the questions I have asked. Their problems usually stemmed from not having answers to the questions that are discussed in this article: 10 Answers You Should Know Before Your Job Interview – Dumb Little Man, as well as more interesting questions designed to probe their experience and knowledge beyond the point that the candidate could answer.

The best answer I have heard was to the question, “Why did you leave your last job?” – I have had many answers but the one I remember best was ‘I do not know’, from an extremely well qualified straight A’s candidate. Huge FAIL.
